About the Program:
With developments in assisted reproductive technology and increasing numbers of individuals identifying as LGBTQ+, the number of LGBTQ+ families is rising. While there are financial and emotional considerations for any individual planning for or actively parenting, there are unique issues that LGBTQ+ people face. This training workshop will discuss the systemic variables and reproductive considerations that must be navigated during the family building journey. As clinicians who work with LGBTQ+ clients, it is imperative to understand the family building options available and have an affirmative approach to addressing the financial, psychological, reproductive, and social stressors that prospective and active LGBTQ+ parents navigate. Both case examples and review of the literature will be provided.
