MPA Donald G. Paterson Undergraduate Award in Psychology

The 2024 Award Nomination period is now closed. 

This award is given to an outstanding college senior planning a career in psychology. The purpose of this $350 award is to recognize and encourage high achievement in psychology at the undergraduate level. Nominations of students whose work has been directed at applied problems and field experience are welcome in addition to students whose work has been mainly laboratory-theoretical in nature.

Nomination Instructions
Each institution, through its Department of Psychology, is requested to nominate a candidate to the Paterson Award Committee by submitting the following materials:
1.) Evidence of superior undergraduate achievement, both in psychology and in the broader areas of undergraduate education, supported by: a transcript of the undergraduate grade record, undergraduate honors received, a paper or report of projects carried out and written by the candidate.
2.) Other evidence of potential for further work in psychology, supported by any of the following: acceptance by recognized graduate schools or other plans for further professional development, receipt of graduate fellowships and scholarships, scores on relevant achievement and aptitude tests (e.g., GRE), or other examples of professional achievements (e.g., career offers, community engagement).
3.) A resume or c.v.
4.) Evidence of personal characteristics and attributes which appear to contribute to effective work in the field of psychology and supported by a maximum of three letters of recommendation.

All 2024 awards will be presented at the MPA Annual Conference on Thursday, April 4, 2024.
