About the Program

Blatant racism is easy to recognize by most people, but what about more subtle forms of racism and discrimination? In this presentation, Drs. Lee and Pituc will describe different forms of racism and discrimination with a specific focus on its impact on Asian American and Latinx populations. Relevant theory and research on racism and discrimination will be reviewed to ground the second half of the program's focus on case studies and clinical examples. The program will invite participants to engage in self-reflection and small group discussion to examine how they can increase their agency to facilitate change and their multicultural competence in clinical scenarios involving racism and discrimination.

This session is at the introductory level and is designed for psychologists and other mental health professionals.

This session qualifies for 3.0 continuing education credits. You must attend the full 3-hour program to get continuing education credit for the event.

Participants will be able to:

  1. Describe different forms of racism and discrimination.
  2. Identify how racism and discrimination varies by racial groups.
  3. Apply understanding of racism and discrimination to clinical practice, including how to intervene in at least two scenarios.
